Dog Haircut / Trimming

A happy dog having his fur trimmed at Springfield's top Dog Grooming Salon.
Dog Trimming

Giving your dog an excellent dog haircut and regular trims are another crucial aspect of the overall grooming process,  and so we make sure to put great care into it. Trimming and cutting are important for the health of your dog for numerous reasons. Regular dog trimming and cuts can help in preventing the hair to become tangled or knotted, which can make them hard to brush through. Cuts can also stop the fur from becoming dirty and matted, which is very important if you do not want your dog’s skin to become irritated.

Our team of experts is very skilled in these services. They have worked with numerous breeds of dogs and have a great understanding of the variations in the needs of every individual dog.
Our process of trimming and cutting your dog’s hair is as follows:

Step 1: Preparation
As is the case with any other task, one of the factors that ensure success is careful preparation before actually beginning the task itself. Therefore, we also take great care in preparing the right conditions for your dog and making sure we are taking as much information into account as possible.

We consider which tool is the most suitable for your dog’s hair, we analyze the type of coat your dog has i.e. the direction of hair growth, the thickness, how repellent it is to water, how oily it is when the coat was last cleaned, and so on. We also make sure that the tools that we are using to cut your dog’s hair are in perfect condition.

This means they must be well oiled and sharpened because dull and dry tools can tug and yank on your dog’s hair which can be very unpleasant. Considerations such as these allow us to give you the best possible results.

Step 2: The trim or cut
Before actually trimming a dog's hair, the obvious step is to brush the dog’s coat out well. This is done to make sure everything is even and if there are any knots or tangles in the hair, they can be gotten rid of. We brush your dog gently to make sure they do not get scared and freak out about what is going to happen.

Once you have communicated to us how short you want the length of your dog’s hair to be, we proceed with the trimming or cutting. For this, we either use scissors or clippers. We go in sections and cut away little by little. This allows us to make sure there is no unevenness in the coat.

Step 3: Aftercare
Once the dog shaving, trimming or haircut is complete,  we move on to conditioning your dog’s hair and brushing it out once again to make sure stray hairs, that can cause itchiness and irritation, are removed from the coat. We want to make sure that you and your dog feel well taken care of so that you leave satisfied and are eager to come back for more. If you decide to give us your business, you will not regret it!
